Basically, you don’t learn the future tense before the present tense.
One of the best resources for this is the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). This is the reference in terms of the French language learning curriculum (and other languages as well) from which the A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2 diplomas are organised.
