For nouns and adjectives, the general rule is to add a s at the end of word when it is plural. Let’s see some examples:

Que se passe-t-il lorsqu’un nom se termine par un “s” au singulier ? – What happens when a noun ends with an “s” in the singular?

When a noun already ends with a -s, -z or -x when it is singular, there is no need to add an extra s for the plural version:

For most of the nouns ending with ail, the plural in French is aux.
