A woman is having a one-to-one online French class

One-to-one tuition allows for total customisation of the teaching and a teacher’s attention focused on a single student. It is the ideal format for rapid progress, especially in pronunciation.

Why should you take French lessons with Anthony at OnlineFrenchTeacher.com?

Anthony Lucas is a native and experienced French teacher. After many years of teaching French to a variety of audiences, these are the guidelines he gives to his lessons:

  • The online French classes are tailored to your specific needs:
  • We set concrete goals together before starting.
  • I guide you to study exactly what you need.
  • I constantly adapt to any difficulties you may encounter.
  • You remain the king of the class: I will always give priority to your questions.
  • You have the opportunity to practise speaking in guided conversations.
  • I always encourage and advise you so that you continue to progress even faster.
  • Throughout the lesson, I take notes of words, phrases and expressions on a virtual whiteboard and record the correct pronunciation. These notes then become personalised smart flashcards for easy, effective revision.

How does a French lesson with Anthony work?

We set objectives before the course even starts

Before the actual teaching begins, we set one or more concrete objectives together. Unlike a general objective, which is vague and cannot be evaluated objectively (Β« I want to speak French fluently” or Β« I want to improve my pronunciation”, for example), concrete objectives are precise, measurable and time-bound. Here are a few examples:

In 2 weeks, I want to be able to introduce my family to my husband’s family (first name, surname, age, job, place of residence, hobbies).”

In 3 months’ time, I want to be able to have a 20-minute conversation about the difficulties I encounter at work.”

“After the next 5 hours of lessons, I want to be able to talk about my daily routine.

We regularly review and adjust these objectives.

What happens during a French lesson?

  • We start a normal conversation, in French (How are you? What did you do this weekend?…).
  • I ask you some questions to check whether you’ve revised the previous lesson.
  • We get to the heart of the matter and practise to achieve the precise objective defined beforehand. Thanks to texts, audio documents, videos, newspaper articles, songs, a multitude of media, we study the concepts to be learned:
  • vocabulary
  • grammar and conjugation rules
  • pronunciation of words, sentences and expressions
  • cultural explanations necessary to understand the situations
  • We practise French through real-life situations, exercises and games.
  • Together we set the homework to be done before the next lesson. The standard homework obviously includes a review of the concepts covered during the lesson. Depending on how much time you have before the next lesson, I give you online exercises to do, a text to write, etc.
  • Throughout the lesson, I take notes of words, phrases and expressions on a virtual whiteboard and record the pronunciation. These notes then become personalised smart flashcards for easy, effective revision.
